Western Australia's defence industry needs skilled workers to meet future industry requirements and prepare for major projects happening now and up to the next 20 years. Defence career opportunities are available across Western Australia’s defence industry in trade, paraprofessional, professional and specialist roles.
$5,000 Women in Defence Industry Scholarship

Delivered in partnership with industry, the Women in Defence Industry Scholarship provides six months of free technical engineering and electronics training to prepare you for employment in WA’s booming defence industry.

There are fully-funded scholarship places available for women of all ages and backgrounds who have just finished school, returning to work or seeking a career change.


Free Career Guidance
Rockingham Jobs and Skills Centre offers specialist defence industry teams available to provide free information about training, support to help with a job search or career change, and advice about career options.

The Athena Project
The Athena Project offers support and advocacy for women veteran survivors of sexual violence and acts as a voice to change the future lived experiences for women veterans, who may experience an incident of sexual violence during their service.
Founded by Jordyn Gray, who enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force in 2016 as an 18-year-old from Kingscliff, NSW, and graduated from the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) in 2018 as a Logistics Officer.
Jordyn became a victim-survivor of sexual assault in 2020 and subsequently found herself navigating a challenging road filled with mental health struggles, administrative push-back and legal uncertainty. Need support? Connect with the Athena Project:
